Boating at night

As the Summer season draws to a close the days are getting shorter. Luckily for us Floridians, we don't need to haul out our boats and winterize them for the next 6 months. We're lucky enough to be able to boat year-round here. Truth be told, night boating is one of my favorite activities, but not everyone feels comfortable and confident enough to do it. It's not overly complicated but remember, safety always comes first. Make sure all of your nav lights and anchor lights are working before pushing off. Maintain a proper lookout at all times, there may be vessels without their lights on. Reduce your speed at night, you can still go fast but be vigilant at all times. And if you have a radar, even better! Just remember to be safe, confident and maintain a proper lookout and stay vigilant at all times! If you want to gain confidence with nighttime navigation, contact us today for more info or to book a lesson!
